Trash Pickup with The Bagster: Everything Including the Kitchen Sink

{Giveaway is Closed!}

The Winner is:  #4, Sheila Fitzgerald.  Congrats, Sheila!

Have you heard about this new thing called The Bagster bag?

I started hearing about it last year, but didn’t get the chance to try it out until now.  Bagster gave me a giftcard to use to buy a bag and for the pickup and with all the junk around my house right now, this really came in handy!

The Bagster is great to use if you have a small project with debris you need to get rid of.  At $29.95 retail for the bag and flat rate collection fee ranges from $79 to $249 per bag, depending on your area (my area is $99), that’s 50 to 70 percent less than a dumpster rental.

The Bagster got rid of that big pile of wood we ripped out of my house, as well as a few other things that we had sitting around.  It was nice to see all of that go. Even though I will still have a lot of junk to remove at the end of my kitchen project, this was a good start to de-junking my new house.  Having all of this hauled off just feels good!

The Bagster $30

The Bagster is sold at most of the home improvement stores, like Home Depot and Lowes, as well as Walmart.  The company that picks it up is Waste Management. The bag comes wrapped like this, very small and unassuming.

The Bagster

Then you unfold it and it grows and grows, to about 4’ x 8’ with sides that can be pulled up higher once the bag is filled.  It was a very easy process and I’d highly recommend The Bagster bag for your smaller home renovation or home cleanup projects.

We got my friend Debbie’s son, Andrew, to come back over and he and my dad got busy stacking in that old wood.  It helped to have 2 people working at it, to make sure every inch was taken advantage of and stacking it straight and flat helped get more in there.

044

In a short time, the bag was filled. It can hold up to 3,300 lbs. so we didn’t completely max it out, just in case the weight might be an issue.

047

Those sides can fold up even more to get the maximum benefit.

filling the Bagster

Here it is all finished and filled and the handles cross over the middle waiting for pickup.  We got lots in there, including the old kitchen sink!  Smile  All I had to do is call Waste Management and they came out in just a couple of days and picked it up and hauled it off.

Easy peasy and no hassle at all!  I would definitely use this product again for similar projects.

Bagster pickup

(not my pickup, but an example of how it’s done)

Quick and easy!  I really like The Bagster and how it works and would definitely use it again for any smaller projects I have around the home.

Some things to know about The Bagster bag:

  • Highly durable, woven bag that can hold up to 3,300 pounds of debris and big enough for full sheets of plywood, doors and even a bathtub (I added a sink!)
  • It’s a great choice for any home improvement project, since many times construction debris can’t be picked up in a regular trash can.
  • Use the bag for as long as you need it and then call Waste Management to pick up the bag.
  • Collection can be scheduled online at www.thebagster.com or by calling 1-877-789-2247, and Waste Management will collect the bag within three business days.

Now for some more great news!  Waste Management is giving away $100 giftcard so that ONE of my readers can try out The Bagster bag too!  Do you have a project you’re working on and need to have your junk hauled away?

Leave a comment on this post telling me what project you might be working on in the near future and how you will use the $$ for The Bagster bag at your house!

I don’t have a renovation project at the moment, but would love to use one when we finally do have one! (Hope not having a project doesn’t disqualify me!)

After more than 20 years in the same house, we are working on paring down/clearing out. The Bagster would be great to fill with all the old magazines, stuff from the shed, etc. Living in a very rural area makes it hard to haul off all the throw-away stuff. Thanks for the opportunity.

This would be great to use as we are renovating our house now. I wonder if the service is available in our area of Fremont, Ohio?

We almost got one of these a couple weekends ago when we ripped up the flooring from our first floor! I posted about this craziness and took pictures of what our garage looked like with all of the flooring and junk…..boy I wished I would have had one of those Bagsters. We didn’t end up getting one because we took all of the new flooring boxes to our recycling center, the trashmen took all of the old linoleum that was under the laminate, and Habitat for Humanity’s Restore is accepting all of our old laminate as a donation! YEAH! Garage is almost cleaned up! Those bags are genius and I am so glad that you found it useful. I will definitely keep it in mind for our next project.

Rhoda….I love your blog and read it more than any other one. I love your grace, humility and southern charm. I have heard of the Bagster before but have never used one even when we redid a 1901 home. However, this time I am entering to win for a friend who does not do the internet. She lost her father recently and she and her husband have bought the house she was raised in. It is small and needs complete remodeling and updating. They have already had one dumpster full and picked up. She would love this bagster to help on the remodeling costs. After doing much work they are getting ready to bump out the master bedroom to make larger and add a master bath and then onto the kitchen gutting and remodeling. She (and I) would be ecstatic if she (I) won!

Rhoda, we used the Bagster when we moved in Feb. this year. We had been 19 years in our home and stuff had accumulated! It was a nice option when it came to cleaning out the garage, etc. I do enjoy your blog and especially watching your progress of getting your new home ready. Very beautiful! Best wishes with everything.

I think The Bagster to be a fabulous concept! How easy for me to continue the de-cluttering/purge knowing I do not have to bag up junk and haul it myself to garbageland! Thanks, Rhoda!

I have been debating the purchase of one of these handy items. We need to clean out our garage. The Bagster would make it so convenient for us. It would save us a few trips to the dump. I have mobility issues and my husband works full time so making a dump trip when he has time off is difficult. It would help our household management and my stress level by doing everything in one giant trip or bag in this case.
    Your blog is wonderful!

Rhoda, what a great idea! I could clean out some things we have saved that need to go! This is so convenient and I love the fact that you don’t need a large construction dumpster or truck to haul things to the dump. Thanks for hosting!

I would use this for the bathroom reno(s) taking place this week in my home. I still have old circa 1985 light boxes in the bathrooms. Out they go this week, and this Bagster would be very helpful in getting rid of the debris! Thanks for the opportunity to enter this great giveaway.

I would use the bagster to help me clean out my garage and storage bin. We have not used our garage in 25 years and our storage bin is loaded with 25 years of boxes of things we thought we would go through one day. I have also been saving furniture, etc to start a business of vingnettes when I retire soon. I have reserved a week of vacation in a month or so to clean out these areas. The bagster would be a big help.
