What little Projects are you putting off?

Thank you all SO much for coming by and linking up to my Top Projects party.  Ya’ll really showed it off and I am so impressed by all we collectively accomplished this year.  Bravo to  all of you.  I wish I could take the time to highlight so many of your projects, but just know that I think you are all awesome.   It will take me days just to go through all the links.

Now, for that project procrastination thing….

Oh, I’ve got a bunch of them. So, let’s spur each other on to getting some of those mundane tasks done.  You know the ones.  Like touching up the grout or caulk on all that white bathroom tile.  Or putting the last layer of caulk around the seam in the granite and backsplash in the kitchen.  Yep, guilty!

Those little things are the ones that get put off for months for me, since whenever they come to mind, I toss that thought aside til another day. But, now that Christmas is over, it’s time to tackle a few of them.

Like this one.  My closet.  No excuse for this pig-sty of a closet, it’s all mine and I have ignored it for months.  Tell me I’m not alone, please?!  I wish I was better at keeping this space cleaned up, but it seems to stay out of control.  It’s tall and skinny. With shelves all the way up the walls.  I can get a lot in here, the problem is, those clothes need to be cleaned out. I don’t wear half of them.  Time to get busy. And uggghhh at the junk drawers.  You know that pretty dining room I have?  It’s hiding a big secret.  The drawers in my sideboard are trashed! I have even cleaned out these junk drawers.  I throw a few things away and just rearrange my junk.  Time to take action!

So, January will be devoted to decluttering my spaces.

I invite you to join me, won’t you? 🙂  Tell me about your decluttering projects and make me feel better.

Happy New Year, my friends!  Here’s to 2011!

If you haven’t signed up for the MasterCard MarketPlace $100 giveaway yet, hop on over and do so.  It ends today!

It’s so funny, my last two blog posts have been about cleaning out my frig/pantry and all my kids closets (mine’s next!) There’s something about after Christmas that makes me want to get rid of STUFF! 😉 I’ll be taking on my garage and my room next!! Yikes

My closets are in ship shape. I literally take everything out of every closet and cupboard once a year, wash the shelves, and rid myself of the things I no longer use.

Never fear… I have my problems. I have been remodeling my kitchen for SIX YEARS! I started in 2004 by having the cabinets stripped and painted. In 2005, I took a week off to finish picking out flooring, appliances, etc. but had a mammogram on the first day and was diagnosed with cancer. I’m fine now but the kitchen is still not done!

I love when bloggers show us they are human afterall. I’m sure that all of us can relate. Your closet & drawers look like mine. I always say that I am a closet hoarder. I so need to declutter, but I always find a bazillion excuses not too. But it is getting to the point where I need to do something. Hopefully you have motivated me to just do it. I’ll let you know.

Hi Rhoda, so appreciate that you actually let us see your closest. Looks just like mine 🙂 Yes, I need to finish our baseboards in our whole downstairs. We did them 3 years ago and we still haven’t finished them completely. So that will definitely be on my list. Happy New Year my friend.

That’s great! You’re human! LOL Just joking!!! It’s funny, but everybody has a place in their house that they don’t really want to show, and here you are… showing your own closet to us.. that’s so cool, Rhoda!
I was talking to my husband yesterday that I see so many beautiful homes on the blogs and he asked me why I don’t make a post about our own, and I said to him that I am shy, because I have 2 small children! We have a great place, but I have a kids tent on my living room! LOL shhhhhhhhhh .. I know, I know… but it’s just for now! They just got it for Christmas and it doesn’t fit anywhere else, so what do I do? lol So, thanks for this post… lol 🙂

I’ve “talked” to you today on Twitter, but I just wanted to come here to say that I really hope I get to know you and your blog even better in 2011. I learn so much with you because you’re a very gifted woman, but what makes me want to come here is your personality. You’re a fantastic person and I am grateful for knowing you… even if it’s in this “virtual” way. 🙂

Have a blessed New Year, Rhoda!

Hi Rhoda….Yes, I have drawers that need cleaned out too. My vanity drawers in the bathroom have to be cleaned out every several months as the stuff seems to explode and why can’t our makeup cases stay clean? The closet in our new house is soooo much bigger so rearrange stuff every 6 months there…..put winter stuff , take down spring summer, etc. But the shoes I have…..have to straighten them almost on a weekly basis. Anyway you are not alone……….I throw away, throw away and throw away………then I need it after I throw away. ha!
Happy New Year , my dear friend!

I must be tired………the closet in our new house is bigger than our old house is what I meant to say and when I put winter stuff up on the top shelves folded I bring down the spring summer stuff. 🙂 My closet can still look bad somedays……..ha!

Hurray, Rhoda! It’s so nice to see a “real” space! Your home always looks so beautiful. Thanks for being real with us, and your encouragement to declutter. Probably most of us need to do that–I know I sure do!

    Have a blessed New Year!

    Hi Rhoda,

I definitely need to join you in decluttering and organizing closets, drawers, and storage areas. I keep thinking the folks from the Hoarders television show are going to appear at my door (a friend told me that at least I hoarde pretty things). 😉

Mainly I wanted to stop by and wish you a very happy 2011 and thank you for all the fun and inspiration you’ve shared all year long.

Wishing you all the best …
    Bill

Oh, girl, I don’t have time to write all the projects I want to accomplish in 2011! I have one for every room of my house, AND the front yard! : )

I guess the first will be decluttering and painting the guest room, which is to become my craft room. I can’t WAIT to get started on it!

Hi Rhoda, what a wonderful mess I say. And don’t we all have those junk drawers. I’ll just leave you my name and address and you can box up all those goodies and send them my way. You are always wearing the most beautiful clothes. And from reading all these post there are many of you wanting to clean out closets. Recycle them my way please. Ha-ha. Tacky I know.

I hope you have a fun New Years Eve and that tomorrow is the first day of a year full of blessings and fun. I’ll be right here reading alone with you in 2011. I always love your post.

    Hugs…Tracy 🙂

I did some decluttering before Christmas and still have more to do. I have a box in my junk room (one day it will be a guest room I promise) that we’ve been throwing things in for the last few weeks.Soon it will be ready for goodwill.

You are not alone!! My closets look just about the same except I need a shoe cubbie. Where did you find yours? It is the perfect size.

Pat, those shoe cubbies are at several places. I’ve seen them at Target and Lowes, check both those out. They’re about $25 each & totally worth it. Now, if I could just pare my shoes down to 25 pairs.

You are SOOO not alone! I am getting ready to tackle my pantry today once I finish getting all the Christmas stuff back in the attic! And then it will be one closet a weekend until I get them all whipped into shape!

    Happy New Year Rhoda!

No, you are not alone! I think every home has some clutter problem. We tried to declutter our home during the summer by selling unwanted items online. We spent two months advertising and eventually ended up with $1000. It was our extra vacation money and the house felt so much lighter. Now I have to convince my husband to get rid off couple more things…still working on it.

Good luck with your organizing projects. What a great way to start the new year.

You are a brave woman putting that out there for all to see. It looks JUST LIKE MINE! Thank goodness I’m not the only one. If it is behind closed doors it is probably a mess. Everyone thinks my house is so clean. Maybe what you can see, but don’t open closed doors. You might get hurt. lol
