Write the Right Words Book Giveaway

{Giveaway is Closed}

I’ve got another fun book up for giveaway today that I think many of you will enjoy.  Write the Right Words:  Messages from the Heart for Every Occasion,  by Sandra Lamb covers all the occasions in our lives that we need to share the written word.

Writing notes and letters has really gone by the wayside these days, in our electronic society.  When is the last time you sat down and wrote someone a letter…in your own handwriting?! I can’t remember the last time.  It really is a shame that we have let so many of the social graces fall away, when relationships are so important to us and writing a heartfelt message is part of that.

My longtime friend, Vicki, who lives in Atlanta is one of the people I so admire in this respect.  She has always, always been an encourager of the written word and I have countless cards from her over the many years that we’ve been friends (since high school).  For all occasions, I can count on a card from Vicki with a hand-written note inside.   I’m afraid I fall far short of writing heartfelt messages and notes to my friends and loved ones.  I do send cards, with a hastily scrawled note inside, but it’s not always well-thought out.

From the book:  A firm believer that every greeting card needs a personal, handwritten message from you to make it complete, Write the Right Words is a guide to help you create a warm, personal message that connects you to the person you’re addressing.  Filled with examples that you can adapt for every occasion, Write the Right Words will help you get through any greeting-card writers’ block.  Flair, fun, and a personal voice will make every card you send a memorable one.

This book covers it all:

  • Connecting Messages
  • Happy Day Messages
  • Holiday Messages
  • Social Grace Messages
  • Care and Concern Messages
  • Creating a new relationship Messages

And at the back of the book is a Dates to Remember section, from January through December, where you can add all your own personalized notes to keep yourself organized in sending cards to your friends and family.

I’ve got one copy up for a giveaway! All you need to do is leave a comment here on this post for the chance to win your own copy (retail value $23)!  I know I will definitely enjoy having this book on my shelf and I’m going to utilize it from now on.

Answer this question:  Do you still send greeting cards?   How good are you at personalizing your greeting cards?  Do you always write from the heart or scrawl out a quick message like I usually do?

Let’s get better about sending out a special card, filled with our heart-felt thoughts!

The winner of the last book giveaway, The Fixer Upper, is Dogsmom. Congrats and enjoy!

I need this book!!!!! I TRY my best to personalize all of the greeting cards I send out but I’m usually groveling for words to write at the eleventh hour. LOL My sweet 88 year old mother always writes at least a paragraph in her cards and I know I’ll treasure those one day. I love the old time look of an elderly person’s loops and swirls…. Will my handwriting look like that to my childen one day?????

Hi Rhoda, I would treasure this book. I do send cards and usually struggle with the written message. I have drawers full of cards that I have received over the years and love rereading them. This book would be wonderful! Love your blog and all your decorating tips.

What a wonderful giveaway! We have large families and I love sending cards to nieces and nephews when you see in the local paper they did something really cool or made the honor roll! As well as sending cards when someone needs a shoulder to lean on. I know how much it makes my day when I receive a card from a friend or family member and hop this makes them feel the same way! This book would be a great addition to my library! Thanks

I’ve been longing for a book like this! I’m always at a loss for the words to express my sentiments. This book should really help. Hope I’m the winner!

What a great idea!!!! I smile every time I get a card or note in the mail. My Pastor’s wife is the best about notes and cards!!!! Also, my daughter would just make my day when she would send me a note or card from college!!!!! I just read a few yesterday while cleaning out some “drawers”!!!! and…. yes indeed… I smiled again!!!!!!!Thanks lots!!!! Terri

Yes, I still send greeting cards. I don’t send them for every holiday, though. In fact, my preference is to send cards at unexpected times so the recipient gets a sweet surprise. Yes, I write in them. Actually, most of mine are the blank kind so I have to write the message.

And, yes, I really want this book! Pick me! Pick me!

I always feel blessed when I receive a card with a special sentiment added. I would love this book so I can pass on the blessing.

I love to send cards and notes to others because I know that when I receive one, it gives me a lift at just the right moment. However, I grapple for the appropriate message at tiimes and find myself “googling” for inspiration and that doesn’t sit right with me at all. I enjoy your messages in my daily blog surfing, kind of like receiving a special greeting.

I absolutely love sending and receiving greeting cards. Nothing makes my day any better than checking the mail and seeing a handwritten note. Although, in difficult times, I sometimes struggle with what to write. This book would definitely not stay on my bookshelf!

Also, check my blog for a giveaway!

I send cards often, but really struggle with the thoughts I want to convey. I’m always touched when I receive a sweet note that I feel is truly from the heart!

You don’t know how much I need this book. I just can never put in to words what I really want to say. I will definitely buy this book (if I don’t win it) 🙂

Rhoda, this looks like a wonderful book for anyone to have! I keep a generic set of small notecards that can be used for any occasion. TJ Maxx and Home Goods always have a good, inexpensive supply. This book would be a tremendous help to me. It would also be a nice gift..especially for a young person. I could have used this when writing “thank you” notes many years ago for wedding gifts.

I send cards whenever I can. As a teacher and a mom of two energetic boys, it’s sometimes difficult to slow down and write a message. But I know my grandmother, would give me a talking to if I didn’t write a thank you note for a gift. I try to write from the heart, because I know how meaningful it can be for the recipient. I could definitely use some pointers on how to say what I mean in a graceful way.

I love sending personal handwritten notes to people. I have always sent my grandmother’s notes in the mail. I think it’s important to honor them with a note at least every two weeks. I also try to write the widows in our church to let them know I’m thinking of them. too. I would love this book to be able to add a little something special to my notes.

I will guiltily admit that I dont send greeting cards like I once did. But I still love the idea of giving and receiving something that is handwriteen and more than just a quick little scratch on the paper. I would love to read this book.

Yes, I still write notes. I try to send at least one note a week. I know what those notes mean to me when I’m the receiver. This book would be so nice though. Sometimes it is so hard to find the words to say what is in your heart when someone you know is hurting. So glad you did this post so others may be encouraged to drop a note to someone in their lives. What a blessing it can be!

I am one of the blessed ones, and so is my friend Laurie… and Peggy. We write and receive the most fun, lengthy, luscious letters ever! Or, just a short note. I have written letters on paper towels, a stack of sticky notes, on the back of envelopes or paper place mats while munching at a restaurant. My favorite writing stick is a 1974 Mont Blanc fountain pen (a bargain from Ebay with the old leather pen holder included!). What is yours? Stickers are still small delights; they cheer the outside of the envelope in the merriest of ways. Riding my old 1960 Schwinn Tiger to the mailbox would not be near as fun if there were not letters (fun mail, as we’ve dubbed it) to accompany me home. Oh! I got so carried away that I forgot to tell you that a couple of weeks ago, I had to write two sympathy notes. Literally, I Googled online cards to read to spark my heart to write the right thing. They did. Your book would have been so much more fun!

There is not a better gift of self than a handwritten note. I too have a friend who is so great about putting the perfect card in the mail to me.
That book sounds like it needs to be sitting on my desk shelf – right next to my Anna Griffin stationery! hugs, patti
