In Georgia, it’s finally time for boots weather and I couldn’t be happier. I dearly love wearing boots, from my riding boots to cowboy boots. Â All boots are fun this time of year, especially with jeans, which seem to be my staple wardrobe these days. Â Now that I don’t work in the Corporate world, my closet is much more relaxed, but I still like to look stylish in jeans.
Sweaters and sweater coats can really dress up an outfit in so many ways and I just ordered this long fringe sweater coat from Nordstrom to add to my wardrobe this Fall and Winter.  It’s part wool, so is cozy and soft sweater material and will be warm with a long sleeve underneath or the particular night I wore it out, it wasn’t really cold yet, but a little chilly, so I went with a sleeveless top underneath.
These jeans are by Grace in LA and have the bling on the backside. They are bootcut which work well for any boots.

I have another similar pair of blingy jeans by Miss Me that I’ve shared before and what I like better about these is that they are cut higher and not so low on the hips. Â I can tuck in a shirt with these and it doesn’t look weird, since they sit right below the belly button. Â Much better for us over 50 gals!
Blingy jeans back pocket.
This fringe sweater is a new purchase from Nordstrom this year. Â I love adding a few new pieces to my Fall wardrobe to freshen it up and this will be a nice addition. Â It’s by Hinge and is part wool, very soft and cozy. Â And I fell for the fringe big time. Â In case you haven’t noticed, fringe is huge this year.
If you are on the shorter side, you will have to find a sweater that’s not too long. Â I realize that not everyone can wearing a longer sweater coat like this. Â Try some on until you find one that is right for your proportions. Â I happen to have very long legs and am tall, so can wear these longer sweaters. Â If you are shorter, look for one that hits you mid-thigh for better proportions.

I added a scarf that I got last year from Pink House Style. Â They sent this to me. Â Â It’s floral on one side and muted Fall stripes on the other. Â Perfect for adding a pop of color to an outfit.
For another look, I removed the scarf and added a long boho necklace, which I’ve had since the 80’s. Â Just goes to show, if you hang on to some things, they come back around again. I’ve always loved this long leather strapped necklace with all those neutral baubles and it will look great with sweaters this time of year. Â The belt I have had for years too, a leopard print skin belt.

The night I wore this outfit it was getting chilly, but not too cold, so I wore a cream sleeveless knit top from White House Black Market that I’ve had in my closet forever. Â I think I picked it up at a yardsale or Goodwill, can’t remember. Â It’s a great little layering top.
And that’s a look at a Fall outfit I wore out recently. Â I love layering things like this for Fall and Winter.
Another look at the fringe sweater. Â This one will be fun to wear. I’ve got a few more new pieces that I’ll be sharing again soon.
I added a new lipstick and blush recently to my makeup and thought I’d share that. Â I looked for a coral blush and lipstick and ended up with these. Â I think they add a nice bit of peachy color to my face. Â Ignore the wrinkles, those come with the territory. {wink}
I bought these at Ulta, links below.
Lipstick is by Calvin Klein: Â Alarm 600 (affiliate link from Ulta)
Cream Powder blush: Â It Cosmetics Vitality Cheek Flush in Pretty in Peony
The lipstick has shine and goes on sort of like a gloss but with more body and not as gloppy as glosses can be. Â I like the way it feels and you can layer it on with a lip pencil for longer wear or swipe it on for a bit of color.

I like your sweater. I have some long vests, I love and get nice compliments on. The longer sweaters work great for short people. I am a little over 5’2″. You just have to watch the length. I picked up a fringed cowl neck pullover sweater in black the other day. It isn’t long length. It is getting to be sweater weather here. My favorite time of year..

I love to wear sweater coats and sweater tunics. So classic and timeless. Your fringe sweater coat looks great on you!
Bonnie says
You look fab in your sweater fringe coat! I am one of those that have to watch it with sweater coats or sweaters that are long as I look swamped in material being petite & small. Walking with my friends has kept weight off which I like but I still have clothes trouble, ha! I have several sweater vests that are perfect length & one or two sweater coats that aren’t too bulky & can get away with . I LOVE fringe too! BTW, your hair looks perfect!

Hi Rhoda, You look fantastic in your new sweater! I love these fashion posts!
Lynne says
Looking fabulous as always! Love your posts x
Sarah says
You look great! I love the long sweater on you. I don’t look so great in them.
I wish you would recommend some casual shoes that look good with skinny jeans. I tried wearing athletic shoes with mine (because I was doing a LOT of walking) but it did not look good. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks for the inspiration!
Rhoda says
Sarah, I’ve shared 2 pair of casual flat sneaker type shoe in the past. One is leopard print and the other is a spotted cowhide black and white print. I love both of these with skinny pants for a casual look. I’ve seen many variations of these type shoes all over now, from fabric to cowhide.
Here are the posts that mention those shoes:

Your legs look a mile long, pretty lady! Thanks for sharing the makeup colors too, as my coloring is very similar. I love your turquoise potting bench too!!!
Bonnie says
Both looks are awesome! So pretty! I too am tall (5’9″) and have long, long legs so I always have trouble finding pants and jeans that are the right length without having to spend a fortune. Do you find that as well? Those jeans look perfect on you.
Rhoda says
Bonnie, I am spending more on my jeans now than I used to, but I do love this pair a lot. They fit well for my frame and most of these jeans are very long. Miss Me also has the bling jeans that are way long. Longer is much easier to find than it used to be, thank goodness!
Bonnie says
I will def. check those websites out, thanks!

Girl, you always look great in jeans! Can we just talk about fringe for a minute? As one who loves embellishments like fringe, pom pons, etc, I picked up several pieces this summer, and for Fall. Love the look, but keeping fringe untangled preventing it from unraveling has been as issue! Especially the fine silky fringe.
Rhoda says
Hey, Mo, this is my first real fringe thing, so we’ll see how it goes. I’ll dry clean this one.
Karen says
This is one of my favourite outfits of yours to date. I covet every item head to toe for myself. ?. I think I can emulate it with what I already have in my wardrobe. I purchased a similar pair of jeans to those in a skinny cut in a great jeans store (Buckle?) whilst visiting Tennessee back in June. I regret not buying a second boot cut pair for the winter months. I love the white contrast stitching and back pockets. I noticed loads of people wearing similar in Nashville! There are loads of very nice strategically faded jeans around here in the UK this season, but I haven’t yet seen the stitching detail I love so much. Enjoy your blog, especially Wednesday’s fashion.
Rhoda says
Hi, Karen, so fun to have you reading from the UK! TN is a great state to visit and I’ve been in a Buckle store. They have really nice jeans! I do think skinny and bootcut jeans are a staple in any wardrobe.
JJ says
Looove that sweater, and the scarf, too. You’re lucky that you can bear to have wool directly against your skin. I just can’t do it…not even wool blend. It itches and pokes and drives me to distraction.
Rhoda says
HI, JJ, I know what you mean about wool. This one is surprisingly soft and not scratchy. I know many people have a wool aversion.
Susan says
I look forward to all your Fashion Over 50 blogs, they make Wednesdays for me! The new lipstick was the first thing I noticed today. Love it.

I love the whole outfit and every look. Really love the sweeater coat and the necklace which are my favs. You look lovely in all these shots. Here is an idea, start a self-published magazaine called fashion over 50 and get several additional models to showcase outfits, make-up and beauty regimens. I’m sure it would be a hit.
Rhoda says
Hey, Sandy! I’ll think about that in my spare time. Ha!
Nancy says
Speaking of being over 50, what do you do for reading? Do you wear reading glasses? I need to wear some, but don’t know what’s in style as far as reading glasses go. I am not pleased that I need to wear them :/and want to be as inconspicuous as possible, but then again, be stylish. Any suggestions? I could really use some help. Thank you. 🙂
Rhoda says
Hey Nancy, I wear contacts and for most things I don’t need reading glasses. If the print is really small though, I do. I have cheap pairs around that I pick up and use when needed. I never need them in a restaurant, thank goodness. Mine are just black with rhinestones, so kinda cute if I had to wear them out. Check out those cheap ones from all over. They do the job and some of them are cute.
Nancy says
Thanks Rhoda. ? I wear mono vision contact lenses and the reading eye needs a little more power now, but when the doctor just increased my reading contact the other day, it really distorted my distance vision, especially when driving. So I’m in a quandary. My distance vision has been excellent until the new contacts, so I’m thinking I’ll go back to my old contacts and wear reading glasses when I need to. Do you wear mono vision contacts? If so, what has been your experience?
Rhoda says
Nancy, no I wear regular contacts, gas permeable ones. I’ve been in hard lens since I was 17 and am very accustomed to them. The doctors say that my vision couldn’t be corrected so well with soft lens, so I have stuck to the hard ones. Maybe one day I’ll get lasic surgery or whatever the latest thing is.

Love your Fashion Over 50 posts! I especially love your candid shots ~ yes our wrinkles come with the territory and I applaud you, me and everyone that allows themselves to age naturally! Personally, I preferred your blog when the focus was on decorating and DIY projects. I could do with less clothes and travel.
Rhoda says
Hi, Rosemary, I can appreciate that, however, as things in my life change, so must my blog. I still get a lot of interest in fashion, so I’ll continue to do that. And travel is something I am really interested in at this stage of life too, so that will continue as well. I can’t please everyone all the time. I explained in a previous post that my house is mostly finished and I’ll be sharing other friend’s projects along the way, but I can’t redo my house all the time.

ughhhh some people!! You look great Rhoda 🙂

OMGosh Rhoda, you are looking more youthful and lovely every moment. I am crushing on every aspect of this outfit. I hope you don’t mind, but, I will be duplicating it for myself, I could only hope to rock it half as much as you!! Happy Wednesday girl!!
Rhoda says
Nerina, duplicate away, I love that it inspired you! Thank you for the compliments. I’m feeling pretty sassy these days and I have a birthday right around the corner.

I love your variety of posts and especially the fashion posts. I appreciate the fact that you don’t blog about every time you move a pillow! I always enjoy your family posts as well!

Those jeans are the best fit with fantastic detailing.I really like the outfits today, especially #2 without the scarf…. very flattering. I think the interest in the fashion posts trumps everything else. Carry on as you have been. If I’m not interested in a post, I just glace at it. Thanks for not posting every single decor decision, although I’m interested in the process itself for larger things. I especially like the posts on your Dad garden, as a gardener myself.
