I have a good friend named Debbie here in Atlanta and she and I have been friends for over 20 years. We met in church back then. We both love decorating and when we first met we were both decorating our homes and bonded over finding bargains and making over things to meet our needs, so we were DIYing before it was cool, back in the 90’s. We even did a few little decorating on a budget sessions for some women’s church groups and it was so much fun. We are both still decorating to this day and today I’m sharing Debbie’s home. I shared her home at Christmas one year, years ago and also her screened porch and blue and white powder room. Anytime I share Debbie’s house on Instagram stories, everyone wants to see more, so today I’m sharing her whole first floor.
Debbie’s mom was an interior designer and Debbie loves it too. She found her style years ago when she first moved in their home and started decorating it and she hasn’t let that go and sticks to what she loves. I admire that about Debbie. She knows what she loves and doesn’t get swayed by all the trends. She loves color in a big way and reds/pinks/yellows and blues are all in her color world. If you like color, you’ll love Debbie’s house. She’s not a minimalist either, she has more stuff than I do but it feels cozy and they love their home. They also have a nice pool in the backyard and I go over there pretty often in the summer to hang out by the pool during the week. Debbie has an at-home business called Miss Lucy’s Monograms (named after their last adorable pup) and that keeps them busy too. She does beautiful monograms, so if you’re in the market, check out Miss Lucy’s.
They live in a beautiful traditional home in a West Cobb neighborhood that’s well established with lots of different style homes.
Inside the foyer
Dining room with a French Country feel. As you can see, Debbie loves blue and white too. She’s my fellow blue and white lover and we’ve both embraced it for years.
She’s a big bargain shopper too.
Her parents have both passed away, but you’ll see lots of her mother’s collectibles that Debbie still loves.
Lots of those things are in the living room, many European collectibles.
Foyer looking to kitchen and breakfast area.
Breakfast nook.
White kitchen with blue countertops.
Debbie’s husband, Bruce, is very handy and has done a lot of projects around their house. Debbie had this French blue tile installed when they moved in over 20 years ago and she loved it and wanted to keep it so when it began to show age, they epoxied over it with a thick clear coating to preserve the tile forever.
She has quite the copper collection too.
Family room
This leather wing chair was a family members and dates back to the 1940’s I think she said and she cherishes it.
Blue and yellow have been Debbie’s favorite colors for a long time.
Yellow definitely brightens up a space.
She’s had her furniture recovered over the years with fresh fabrics.
Love this bank of windows.
Lots more of Debbie’s blue and white collection.
I love this black dresser that belonged to her mom.
Family is super important to Debbie too. They have two grown children who have left the nest and are doing well in the area.
I shared Debbie’s powder room a couple years ago but here are a few more shots. It’s such a little jewel box of a room.
For the blue and white lover.
Foyer from upstairs.
A little nook off one of the upstairs bedrooms. The upstairs wasn’t ready to photograph.
Debbie’s black and white porch is so fresh and Southern feeling. With those touches of pink it’s quite the porch.
Debbie painted those diamonds years ago on her porch and I copied her back then on my old house and then when I moved in my fixer upper house, I did gray and white diamonds on my porch. It’s so fun to do a paint treatment like this on a porch.
It’s a cozy place to hang out and Debbie spends lots of time out here in the summer. They eat lots of family meals on the porch too.
We will all be getting our porches and outdoor spaces ready for summer again soon. I can’t wait!
I’ve spent many days in this backyard pool of Debbie’s and love having a friend with a pool that lets me come over whenever I want.
We should all have a friend like Debbie. She’s a dear heart and I cherish our friendship! I hope you enjoyed this tour of Debbie’s house. It’s been fun to share with you another new house for Feature Friday.
Debbie and I worked together years and years ago. She’s a dear person, and her home reflects her personality perfectly. Always friendly, happy and beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
I love that Barbara, that two of my friends are also friends. It’s a small world after all.
Oh so beautiful!! I love her southern style with the colors and wonderful-collected over the years look. Debbie’s home is just perfect! We could all stare at these pictures and learn a few great ideas.
OH!!! Her house is so beautiful, full of “gorgeousness” that I don’t think I could pull off, but boy, do I admire it! Just one question, Who dusts all the beautiful pictures and vases and such? I love the tours you do Rhoda, keep’em coming!
I was thinking the same thing about dusting & cleaning. It is a beautiful home.
Love the yellow and blue, been my favorite always, so cheerful and inviting to me. The back porch is so inspiring. I painted the diamond look on our porch floor as well when I saw your post on your porch at the old house. It didn’t wear well though, it’s concrete and I’m sure we missed a step to seal it correctly. This summer we are going to try painting it like you did at the new house under the deck. Loved how that turned out as well 🙂 Thank you for your blog, you keep inspiring me to try new things 🙂
What a beautiful home and a plus that she is your friend and you spend lots of time in. I love all of her collections and happy spaces. I am very fond of her breakfast room and family room colors!
Thank you for treating us to a beautiful home today Rhoda. Have a great weekend!
What a beautiful home showcasing cherished keepsakes collected over the years. This home personifies love and years of memories painstakingly scattered through the home for comfort and coziness in a well mannered way. Very homey and elegant, all rolled up in a big ball of southern hospitality. A true feast for the senses.
There seems to be a mix of French Country and Asian influences in her design style which is so unique and lovely. She has a wonderful eye for color and placing items in just the right way in just the right place. Although my style is more minimalistic, I certainly admire her talent to pull this off in such a creative way!!!!
Thank you for sharing this beautifully decorated home full of treasures! What a treat!
From Dominican Republic, thanks for that tour!!!! Every day I read your publications and I have followed you for more than 10 years
Thank you, Gloria, I appreciate that all the way from DR!
What a beautiful home with so many wonderful ideas! I love that she stays true to what she loves and doesn’t get caught up in all the latest trends – and everything looks “collected”.
Yes, this was a beautiful home. Loved her kitchen. Loved the charm of no stainless appliances, I am not a fan of stainless steel and I loved seeing the white and bright of white.
I have that same yellow in the main living spaces in my home! I love it, so bright and cheery! I like color too, and it is so interesting to see what she has done with color in her home. Very beautiful!
WOW! So beautifully placed!
I could never pull this off.
Love all the beautiful colors coordinated so well!
I would def. need me a personal “Duster”!
Love the homes you share!
Thanks, Happy weekend!
I love this house!!!!!! I love the color, the decor, everything!! I am not a minimalist either so I appreciate those homes that are full of collections and treasures.
OMG, this post has probably saved my marriage. For years I have been trying to get my husband to paint our living room and dining room yellow. Our dining room has a chair rail and is painted navty on the bottom and of course the top is white. Although as traditional as that is I have needed a change. Seeing Debbies house has finally convinced him (I would of painted it yellow anyway) to paint it yellow. We were planning to paint this spring anyway so this post could not have come at a better time. Debbies home is just lovely. This is probably my favorite house of all the blogs I have received. Of course your home is lovely also and we have used a few of your diys. If Debbie would like to share the yellow paint color she used that would be great.
HI, Kim I’ll see if I can find out what the yellow is. So I texted her and she said it was a Dutch Boy paint from Walmart over 15 years ago. She doesn’t know the name.
Debbie’s home is so beautiful. I imagine grandchildren visiting and years later talking about the sound of the clocks ticking and the way they felt comfortable and welcomed in the home. What I love about it is that it’s never going to date (except to those who only want the latest styles from blogs and Instagram) because it has a timeless feel. My favorite piece was the wing chair from the 1940s.
Amazing tour and for a fellow lover of blue and white it had lots of eye candy. Thanks for sharing.
LOVE Debbie’s house with all the color! Just beautiful! I, too, hope she has someone to dust it all!!
So much inspiration from this lovely home! That large copper pot in front of the fireplace….WOW! So good to see a fellow copper lover and how they have integrated their treasures throughout their home. Thank you for sharing this!
Just what I needed after this past year – a beautifully decorated colorful home. No neutrals, just happy, glorious color. She is very assured of who she is and what she likes in spite of all the current trends. I guess we should learn to be true to ourselves and what makes our soul sing.
