A Night At Serenbe

I first visited Serenbe last year in the Spring, when I got to visit the HGTV Green home at Serenbe, an innovative “green” home full of beauty and great ideas.  I ended up choosing  the same Shaw Floors flooring after seeing those rustic plank floors in the house.  Serenbe is really a treat of a place to visit, out in the country about 30 minutes from the Atlanta airport. When you’re there, you feel like you’re a million miles away from it all, especially the hustle and bustle that is Atlanta these days.  Traffic, we cannot escape it, ugh!

So, when I was invited by Serenbe to come back and stay in one of their new cottages for the night, of course I said yes.  Sure, that would be fun!  Dinner was part of the treat too and dinner at The Farmhouse restaurant is definitely a fun experience.  This farm to table restaurant with a dining room that looks like an old farmhouse, complete with a sunroom seating area is just amazing.  I never get tired of seeing Serenbe up close and personal.

I’ve shared downtown Serenbe before, so go over and take a look at those pics for lots more of this neat community.  It really is a great place to visit for a weekend or even for the day. They have lots of activities on the calendar all year long,  with family-friendly activities and nature inspired.  They have their own farmer’s market, with produce grown right in the organic garden and it’s open for anyone.  There’s just something special about country living and even though I didn’t grow up in the country, my parents did and instilled a love of nature in me that I have always enjoyed. Getting outside and back to nature is one of the best things you can do for yourself.

horses

Driving into Serenbe and past the winding main street through a quaint little town of beautiful homes, shops and restaurants, then you come to the gravel road and these beautiful creatures.  Horses and many other animals make Serenbe home.

horse up close

I love horses and grew up riding just a bit at my uncle’s house.  I’m definitely not experienced, but appreciate the beauty of these animals.

The Farmhouse restaurant

The Farmhouse restaurant offers up farm to table fare with changing menus with the seasons.

Serenbe

Checking in at the Inn at Serenbe, they offer many guestrooms for a weekend getaway or just a night away from it all.  They also host many conferences at Serenbe and when I was there, an all ladies group from Chick-Fil-A were staying at the Inn and meeting during the day.  I can imagine how fun that would be for corporate people to be able to go to Serenbe for meetings.  Who wouldn’t be signing up for that?!

The Farmhouse

The Farmhouse is where all the meals are served for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  It really is an old farmhouse and the founders of Serenbe, the Nygrens, bought the property and added on to the farmhouse over the years.

An old fashioned pool sits beside the guesthouse.

Another pool on the backside of the Farmhouse.

It’s beautiful too and check out those oakleaf hydrangeas growing in mass.  Gorgeous specimens!

A rustic arbor leading to a smaller garden area.

treehouse

A treehouse that looks like it’s part of the landscape.

old doors

Outside the Farmhouse, these old doors caught my eye.

sunroom dining

Inside the restaurant, this sunroom is just so welcoming, it’s my favorite area to dine.

trout for dinner

I had a trout dish that was delish.

mitchell gold cottage

I shared pics of this cottage decorated by Mitchell Gold+Bob Williams in Buckhead when I went to the press party awhile ago, so you can check that all out too for all the scoop inside the cottage.  It’s a cute little thing, at about 800 s.f.!

hanging swings

I could live on these swings, how fun are these?

The kitchen is really pretty with all those open shelves and windows.

swinging on porch

What a treat to spend an evening for dinner and relaxing under the stars at Serenbe. It truly is a fun little get away for Atlanta folks, so if you want a treat for yourself, check out the Inn and The Farmhouse restaurant.  They take reservations for either a nightly stay or dinner and with plenty to do to keep you busy for a day or so, a welcome get away from the rat race.  It was relaxing and peaceful, no traffic at all at Serenbe and you almost forget how close you are to the city.  I think there are plans for some of the cottages to be rented out in the future and I read that there is another Inn planned on main street in Serenbe, so this growing community is always expanding.

Serenbe is a visual and restful experience for everyone, so if you get the chance to visit, please do so!

    Hi,
Great blog! I sent you a short email but it came back as a failure and said you didn’t have a yahoo account. Did you change your contact info when yahoo went through a change a few months ago?

Oh the horses remind me of where I live in Alabama. The folks behind us are using their riding ring daily and I love sitting out and watching the horses go through their paces. Thanks for the info on Serenbe…might have to make that a short trip soon.

Well hello Miss Hollywood! Great picture of you. There is something so right and safe about eating food that is grown nearby.

My husband and I drove through this community several years ago when it was first being built and we thought it was going to be so neat. At the time, he was renovating a very old, pretty white farmhouse across the road, and down a bit, from Serenbe. Yesterday was our 23 wedding anniversary but didn’t actually ‘celebrate’ it. We were thinking about waiting until we get a little further into the fall season, when it’s cooler and the leaves are changing, to take a weekend to get away. Maybe we’ll consider Serenbe since it’s close to home (Newnan) and I have a hard time traveling with my illness. Thanks for sharing this with us. Looks like you had a great time!

What a lovely place to take a break, you look very relaxed and very deserving of the break. I am off to Australia next week for two weeks to stay with old friends so very excited.

I love the scenery, horses and the interior shots you have above. I used to ride and adore horses. I also have saved the photo of the kitchen with the shelves over the windows, an idea that could work in my small kitchen as I have a very deep window and little space for anything in my kitchen. I am re-doing it but will consider how this could work for me.

Thanks for sharing this lovely post…I was thinking, as a blogger I get to see the ‘real’ USA through other bloggers who live there. In NZ we only get to see it through the eyes of TV which is mainly crime shows :(….or we fly to Los Angeles…we never see the real people and the real country as you live it and so I feel priveledged to be able to experience it through your eyes.

When I go to the USA next, I think I will be wanting to visit small towns as there truly are some gorgeous places off the tourist tracks.

    Lee 🙂
