Raised in South Georgia’s farm country, cookbook author, Gena Knox has a long history with the land and Southern cooking. Her newly released cookbook, Southern My Way: Simple Recipes, Fresh Flavor, features more than 250 pages of seasonal recipes (100+ recipes), streamlined for busy lives and accompanied by full-color photographs that portray a lifelong love affair with Southern food and culture. Gena shares her modern take on the region’s culinary specialties.
Says Gena,
“I want home cooks to read my book and feel as though they shared the same culinary experiences that I did as a child, like riding through the fields to check on crops with my father or making homemade biscuits alongside my mother in the kitchen.”
I love that!
Sounds very similar to the way I grew up. We didn’t ride through the fields, but walked through my parent’s garden plenty of times, freshly picked veggies at the ready.
With a contemporary spin on Southern cooking, Gena’s recipes rely on fresh, seasonal ingredients to make them work with little trouble. And guess what? We have ONE cookbook to give away to one of my readers. If you’d like a chance at this beautiful hardback cookbook, just leave a comment telling me your favorite dish to make for your family.
That’s it! I’ll leave the giveaway open until Sunday evening and choose a winner then.

Comment #202 – Lovely website, Rhoda. Thank you for dropping by for a glimpse of my Goodwill Challenge. I’m also a lover of interior design but have no talent in this area. We have joined in cooperation with Brooke from Velvet and Linen to help transform our home. Should be a fun year. My husband is addicted to interior design blogs, so I’ll share yours with him. Love that you’re so thrifty and talented. ; )

Ok… I know I’m competing with 205 people and I am sure it will be many more by the end of this, but guys.. seriously, I never won anything online! And I need inspiration to cook for my family this year! We’re tired of my food! lol
What I cook and they all love is Potato Gnocchi. It’s a lot of work, but we all cook together, like I learned with my “nona”! 🙂
… and Mrs. Rhoda… when are you coming to visit me? I’m missing you on my blog! 😉
Have a beautiful day!
