Summer Tour of Homes

I’m so happy and excited to be participating in Gina’s Summer tour of Homes this year. She’s the brainstorm behind this fun event and 26 bloggers will be sharing their homes with blogland, all this week. If you’ve missed them, you can see the list of bloggers here, so be sure and go back and catch up.

If you are coming over from Brittany at Pretty Handy Girl, WELCOME! I’m so glad you stopped by.

I’m so dang excited that I have a home that I can put in a tour this year. After 6 months of renovations, it all paid off and now I’m enjoying my cute home, sweet home….for sure!

Come on in and take a look around.

If you are new to my blog, WELCOME!  I’m so glad you are here.  A little about me.  I bought a 1979 fixer upper house in April of 2012 and my dad and I spent 6 months renovating it.  Move in was October 2012 and I’ve spent the last 6 months putting all my rooms together.  I’m almost there with most of them and right now am working on my screened porch. Hope you enjoy the tour and please come back again!

For a complete look back at all the posts in my House Renovation, you can find every single thing we have done to this house. You won’t believe the BEFORE pics!

Coming in the foyer, the back of my front door is painted Annie Sloan Florence.

We added new pine stair treads and new risers and I finished off my painted stairs with a runner from Dash and Albert.  This is one of my fave projects in my renovated house.

Thank you ALL so much for stopping by! I’m so happy to meet you and hope you’ll come back again.  I love home decor and making rooms beautiful and strive to make my home as beautiful as it can be.  I love sharing inspiration with blogland and have been blogging for 6 years.

My complete Home Tour with links to individual posts might be helpful for answering any questions.

I also did a video a few months ago, showing my house mostly done.  This video was for an HGTV submission (nothing came of it), so I did a little tour of my house, talking about how long I’ve been decorating and lots of things I’ve done in my house, so you might enjoy this one!  And you can hear my Southern drawl, up close and personal. 🙂

Please make yourself at home at Southern Hospitality!

The next stop on the tour is my friend, Traci at Beneath my Heart. She’s been working on a big renovation as well, so I hope you’ll stop over and see her gorgeous home too!

  1. Rhoda,
I love every inch of your home! Blues and greens are my favorite! The changes are amazing and it’s so heart warming know how much your Mom and Dad did. You guys are awesome! Thanks for the tour!
    Debbie

  2. Rhoda: I have been following along with your beautiful home rehab and have been just amazed at the creativity of you and your Dad. The hard work that you both put into this home (notice I didn’t say house – because it is a HOME) certainly has paid off. You are an inspiration to many people and to me. When I log in…yours is the first blog I go to…just to see what you are up to now. Thanks so much for sharing your home and your life. You are one great Southern Lady.

  3. Hello Rhoda!
Wow- I am so impressed! I love the whole house tour! My favorites- the living room and master. But, it is all so well done- you have created a very beautiful home.

  4. I love how proud you are of your home. I’m proud for you and of you, and I don’t even know you!!;) What an adventure huh? After a rough camping trip recently, my 4 year old daughter said “adventure is not always a great idea”, but I think in your case, it looks like it paid off!:) Thanks for sharing the journey.

  5. I love the recap of this home, but you shouldn’t hesitate to link to your old one. I know you probably consider that “old news”, but there were many great tutorials, especially on your furniture painting techniques. Really, Rhoda, you’re house looks so beautiful and professional Can’t wait to see your porch finished and furnished.

    • Thank you, Teresa, I do still have my old house listed under Home Tour too. I had lots of things that I was proud of in that house too!

  6. Absolutely gorgeous, Rhoda!

  7. Your style is so cheerful! I love the blues and greens you’ve used to decorate with, and the reclaimed wood shelves are gorgeous.

  8. Oh my gosh! You look amazing! And your home is just gorgeous.

  9. How has your runner on the stairs held up? I’m thinking of doing the same thing but noticed you did not use a rug pad underneath the runner.

    • HI, Tia, the runners are holding up very well, no problems at all. I didn’t use a rug pad, but they are very sturdy and feel great underfoot.

  10. Omg its all so gorg and perfect and DONE. Im such a slacker.

    Love, your jealous friend

  11. Screendoorgirl 3 says

Amazing job! Congrats.. you must be thrilled with the results..

  12. What a beautiful home. We are about to design a home office, and I was wondering where your desk came from?
