This ole’ blog of mine sure has evolved since I started it and I’m not even sure how many original readers I still have now. I don’t think all that many who started with me are still reading, but so many of you have joined in along the way and I’m SO grateful for YOU, YOU, and YOU! If you have been reading my blog from the beginning, I’d love to hear about it.
Y’all make this so much fun for me and I’d love to hear from YOU today. I’ve often wondered who all is reading. You lurkers are a mysterious bunch and don’t come out very often. Unless I’m having a giveaway. 🙂 Then, you come out of the woodwork.
So, today is all about YOU! Tell me as much as you want to share, I’d love to know at least what state you live in, how old you are and what you do, if you work out of the home or are a stay at home mom/wife. If you don’t mind sharing. I just think this will be so much fun and instead of me talking, YOU can do the talking today.
OK, who’s first! Come on, don’t be shy, tell me about yourself. We’re all friends here and I would love to know more about my wonderful readers.
And if you have a question for me too, ask away! I’ve got plenty to share from my trip to Atlanta this weekend, but thought this would be fun to do while I get some pics sorted, so I’ll get to that a little later.
Oh, and I just have to throw this in….hello my name is Rhoda, not RhoNda, as many of you think it is! 🙂 I have to laugh, because I’ve been called Rhonda all my life and usually had to correct my teachers the first day of school. I will be 53 in December.

I am a sixty-three year old retired public school teacher living in Oklahoma. After retirement I continued teaching at a local University in teacher training. I love your blog and enjoy seeing your esthetic sensibility. Keep on sharing with us.
Hi Rhoda. I’m a 57 yr old stay at home wife. Lived in Alabama my whole life until this past July when hubby and I moved to Nashville, TN to live near our grandchildren. I love your decorating blog as I am busy trying to decorate my new house and get great ideas from it. My daughter and I do lots of crafting, antiquing, sewing and cooking together. We also have an online children’s heirloom clothing business. Sure do miss “sweet home Alabama”. Still have family in B’ham so I love to hear about the places you mention there.
Hi, I’m Teresa. I am 40 (eewww, I HATE saying that!) and I live in Newnan, GA with my very best friend to whom I’ve been married to for a little over 19 years! I am the mother of 3 grown/nearly grown daughters (23, 17 and 15). We have 2 handsome grandsons (6 y/o and 22 mos) – and I am absolutely NOT old enough to be a grandmother! That is my story and I’m sticking to it. :0) I am 100% disabled from a very rare neurovascular disease and I very much miss my career as a Paramedic. :0(
I found Mrs. Rhoda earlier this year before I even started blogging. I was (still am) searching for paint colors for our newly built home. By the time we were ready for paint our new home, we were in a really big hurry to finalize things and we were already WAY over budget. So we visited a bunch of my husband’s model homes (he’s a builder) and then settled on one paint color for the walls (SW Relaxed Khaki) and one for the trim (SW Antique White).
We were definitely not thrilled with this color palette in our home, because we failed to factor in the amount of nature light we have, so I have been searching high and low for new colors ever since it was painted. It’s not bad, per se, it is just not what I was expecting.
When I Googled paints colors of gold and yellow, Rhoda’s blog came up showing me her AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL home! I was immediately in LOVE with her home and the SW Whole Wheat she used in a lot of her spaces. Since that time, I have had all of her photos saved as inspiration for when we finally have time and money to repaint our home and buy more furniture and accessories. She is just one of the best designer/decorators I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. To top it off, when you try to contact her, she is VERY quick to respond. She is completely amazing.
Did I mention she is AMAZING?!? :0)
I now officially consider myself Rhoda’s BIGGEST FAN! I simply adore all of her thrifty finds and her incredible decorating. I love seeing what she can find for next to nothing and then turn it into something people would pay lots of hard earned cash for! Amazing, I tell ya!
I wish she still lived in the Peach State but at least her heart is still here and she still comes to visit often. Plus, she is not that far away.
Love you, Rhoda! You are THE best!!

Hi Rhoda,
Great post. I have been reading and following you for what seems like years now. You were one of the first to get me started in blogging. I love following your blog adventures and am amazed at the time and love that you have devoted to blogging and the blogging world.
Our homestead has been established for many years now so I’m pretty much over refinishing or redoing things and when I do go thrift shopping or yard saleing I have to be sure to get rid of something to make room for it and since I am happy with what I have I don’t do much of it any more. That said, I still love popping in and seeing what you are up to. When I do stumble on something share worthy and sign up for one of your Mr. Linky post, I tell you girl, my viewer stats sky rocket. You must have an enormous following and I am honored to be able to call you a blogger friend and be included in that following. Congratulations on your success my blogger friend.
Hugs,
Sue
I have been reading your blog since the end of May. I found it after reading Kelly’s Korner. I love all things pertaining to decorating although my job is teaching preschool. My decorating style is similar to yours..I used to also watch Lynette Jennings on TV and loved that show. Also Christopher Lowell. I found the beadboard wallpaper last summer (08)and used it in my kitchen. I have always done everything myself and on a budget although I don’t do much garage saleing. My kids are all grown and I have two grandchildren. I have lived almost all of my life in the south (except for some years that my husband was in the military) in Louisiana, Arkansas and Tennessee. Now I live in Texas. I am nine years older than your are—how’s that for not saying my age!! I am constantly updating things in my house so it’s great fun to see and read about someone else who is always doing things to their house too!! I absolutely love your blog and read it every single day! Oh, and my name is Judy.
My name is Lisa, and I am going to turn 30 in a couple weeks (Yikes!). I live in MN, with my husband. I am a horticulturalist, and I love my job. I found your blog sometime in early 2008, and I guess you would call me a lurker. I read your blog almost everyday, and really enjoy your take on life…oh, and your green laundry room! 🙂 I am really excited about your recipe exchange-I hope to gain lots of insight!
Hi Rhoda,
My name is Amy and I am 41 years old. I am a homeschool mom of three children. I have only been following you a couple of months, but have thoroughly enjoyed our time together thus far.
Hi, Rhoda.
I am 56 years old and live in Florida, just north of Tampa. I moved here 7 1/2 years ago from Tennessee. I accidently discovered your blog about 4 months ago when I was researching old farm houses in the southeast. I had no idea there were so many blogs out there in cyberspace and have since discovered several that I really enjoy reading. I hope to build a house soon and look forward to reading your lovely blog for ideas. I work full time plus have my own business as a Mary Kay consultant so I stay pretty busy. Keep up the good work.

I’m Ashley, a stay at home mommy to my almost 2 yr old princess, Hadley. I’m not sure “stay at home” is a great title to describe us though. Maybe a “never @ home mommy” or “always on the go mommy.” HA I was a teacher until Had was born, then decided to stay home with her. My hubs & I have been married for a little over 2 years. He owns a dental practice in Marrero, LA(near New Orleans). Although he was born & raised here, I am a native of Mobile, AL. (Grand Bay actually) I sure do miss the beach, but he does take me to Destin atleast once a year.
Hi there!! I’m in my early forties and I live on a farm in Illinois. My husband is a grain farmer but we have a small flock of sheep and goats (and some chickens) that my 3 boys take care of and show in 4-H. I’ve always stayed home with the boys, we home school and I also help my husband with the farm accounting and such.
My name is Donna. I actually met you the other day at Homegoods to purchase my ticket to the Christmas Showhouse. You are just as sweet as I thought you would be! I live about an hour from you, however my daugther lives near you. I just recently lost my oldest daughter Amber in July. She is now an Angel in Heaven! I am trying to learn to adjust to a new life without her. She had a rare form of muscular dytrophy and I was with her 24/7.
I have read your blog for about a year and a half. You always have plenty of ideas and are very inspiring.
Since Amber’s passing I began my own blog. I hope I can inspire others with Amber’s story. She was such a blessing in her nearly 30 years on this earth, however my heart aches!
Keep up the ideas and I hope to see you at the showhouse.
Donna

I recently found your blog and love it! I was just introduced to the blogging world earlier this year and have become addicted. I have yet to start my own…but maybe someday. Hi, Rhoda —
I’ve just discovered your blog through Soodie Beasley. Wanted to let you know that your name is not unusual to me …… I have an aunt, who will be turning 101 in January, whose name is Dorcas Rhoda Ann. We sometimes lovingly refer to her as “Aunt Dorkey.”
After working in an office for almost 50 years, I retired in March of 2008. Now I devote my time to doing only what I want to do–which is great. My all-time favorite pastime is reading and collecting books. But for years I’ve been an avid attendee at estate sales, antique markets, flea markets, yard sales, and the like. Of late, I’ve become associated on weekends, as needed, with a couple of women who have been conducting estate sales in my area for many years. I’m also house and pet sitting. My goal upon retirement was that I would consider taking on anything that was fun, allowed me to make new friends, would take only an hour, a day, a week at most, but no more, and not located in an office. I also have a 97-year old Mom to visit with.
Keep up the good work. I’ll look forward to reading your blog, only one of which is now taking up more time that I’d like–but I love the great ideas they provide. From Atlanta ……..
