{Giveaway is Closed}
I’ve got another fun book up for giveaway today that I think many of you will enjoy. Write the Right Words: Messages from the Heart for Every Occasion, by Sandra Lamb covers all the occasions in our lives that we need to share the written word.
Writing notes and letters has really gone by the wayside these days, in our electronic society. When is the last time you sat down and wrote someone a letter…in your own handwriting?! I can’t remember the last time. It really is a shame that we have let so many of the social graces fall away, when relationships are so important to us and writing a heartfelt message is part of that.
My longtime friend, Vicki, who lives in Atlanta is one of the people I so admire in this respect. She has always, always been an encourager of the written word and I have countless cards from her over the many years that we’ve been friends (since high school). For all occasions, I can count on a card from Vicki with a hand-written note inside. I’m afraid I fall far short of writing heartfelt messages and notes to my friends and loved ones. I do send cards, with a hastily scrawled note inside, but it’s not always well-thought out.
From the book: A firm believer that every greeting card needs a personal, handwritten message from you to make it complete, Write the Right Words is a guide to help you create a warm, personal message that connects you to the person you’re addressing. Filled with examples that you can adapt for every occasion, Write the Right Words will help you get through any greeting-card writers’ block. Flair, fun, and a personal voice will make every card you send a memorable one.
This book covers it all:
- Connecting Messages
- Happy Day Messages
- Holiday Messages
- Social Grace Messages
- Care and Concern Messages
- Creating a new relationship Messages
And at the back of the book is a Dates to Remember section, from January through December, where you can add all your own personalized notes to keep yourself organized in sending cards to your friends and family.
I’ve got one copy up for a giveaway! All you need to do is leave a comment here on this post for the chance to win your own copy (retail value $23)! I know I will definitely enjoy having this book on my shelf and I’m going to utilize it from now on.
Answer this question: Do you still send greeting cards? How good are you at personalizing your greeting cards? Do you always write from the heart or scrawl out a quick message like I usually do?
Let’s get better about sending out a special card, filled with our heart-felt thoughts!

My husband and I are maybe a bit odd…But we LOVE sending notes to people. I’m talking about three page letters on notebook paper. Using blank note cards and filling up the whole inside, back and including an extra piece of paper. Sending people thoughtful care packages and occasionally greeting cards (they are so overpriced!). And we are sticklers for thank you notes.
We are in our 20’s and are going on 80 I think. We just hate that people spend less and less time together, enjoying company, hosting dinners, caring for others. So we are pretty old fashioned, I guess. But no one we know complains!

Hi Rhoda! I am pretty good about sending birthday cards and I do personalize them. Occasionally, I send thinking of you cards. I’d really like to become a person who regularly sends words of encouragement to friends and family. I just think it is so nice to be the recipient of sweet notes that let you know someone is thinking of you.

I differ on cards, for some of my guy friends I know not to give them one. I just take them out to eat and hand them a gift card. I noticed that guys are not to keen on them. LOL Now my girlfriends I will give them cards because usually we keep them. Although my brother-in-law, he is a computer genius, he scans every card into his computer that I send him or my sister. Then they categorize them on an external hard drive and recycle the paper into a composte. I do love to send them and say something from the heart but every now and then with certain akward situations I get nervous with the wording. Like a funeral or loss of a pet.

Yes, I do. I have three blank cards setting in front of me right now actually to handwrite. Two get well cards and a thank you note. I wrote one a couple of weeks ago to tell our VBS director what a fabulous job she had done. So, I am a big believer in hand written notes. I also send out email thank yous too though. =D

thanks for this opportunity- this topic has really been on my mind and heart the last 24 hours. I really would like to be better at sending cards, but I struggle with the messages and usually scrawl something quick.

I do still send cards from time to time. I probaby would send even more if STAMPS didn’t cost so much! I saw these new cards at Walmart the other day~they’re very random, not your typical cards. Some are really cute & funny!

I’m a big letter and card writer for those I love and those whom I owe thanks. I try my best to think through the words and spend time researching the right things to say when I am at a loss. This book would be a great help! Love it.

This is a great give-away! I’ve always wanted to write personalized message on cards I send especially to ones who have just experienced a loss.

Greeting cards. They are my friends. They make me smile when I get them, and grin when I send them. Unfortunately, I don’t send them as often as I mean to. And when I do, I’m usually in such a hurry I “forget” to make it a personal message and just write something fast. Knowing what to say for different occasions would make a world of difference!

That sounds AMAZING!!!!

I do still send greeting cards….when I remember the date! If I don’t remember to get a card, I will text or send a message via facebook. I know that is so impersonal! We do send personal Xmas cards though. The books sounds wonderful and needed.

Hello! I love to give greeting cards and always try to put something in the card that personalizes it for the recipient. Sometimes it is hard finding the exact words to make it so! This book seems like the perfect companion for my greeting card drawer!

Rhoda, would love to have this book. I DO send cards and try to personalize, but as you say, sometimes don’t put enought thought into it. Having this resource would definitely help in that regard.
Thanks for the opportunity.

I still send greeting and note cards. Not as much as I should or want to, but I’d rather send (and receive) a note than make (or get) a telephone call. 🙂 Seems like more thought goes into that.
I TRY to personalize what I say. I may not say much, but I certainly try not to just sign my name! I like books like this because they do help get the creative juices flowing. 🙂

I am a card sender who is always searching for the right words to say! This book sounds awesome and would be a great help to me as I look to put into writing the message I’m trying to convey! Thank you so much for the opportunity to join in this great giveaway!

I really like to send personalized cards. Sometimes they’re witty. Sometimes they’re thought-provoking. Sometimes they are just heart-felt. I think it’s so much more meaningful when it’s a hand-written note or card.
