Malinda’s Master Bedroom

I’ve been working with Malinda for the past year on just about every room in her house and it’s been so much fun.  We have worked our way from her guestroom to an office space/craft area, an upstairs bonus room, family room/kitchen, her baby girl’s room, and now finally we are in the master bedroom.

Here’s Malinda’s current bedroom.  She asked me to work some magic and give her some inspiration and she mentioned she likes tropical colors and feel, so that is the direction I went and I think it’s going to be such a fun, but calming space when we are finished.

She’s got this beautiful classic rice bed and the bedding is so pretty too, so we are keeping that.

It’s a nice big space, lucky her!  I think we have decided on Sherwin Williams Ivoire for the wall color in here and we are taking SW Quietude into the master bathroom, which is not really the lime green that it looks here.  Quietude is on the same strip as Rainwashed and both great choices in the subdued aqua family. A set of French doors goes outside to a porch.

And she’s got plenty of room for a chair and ottoman in here too.

So, after Malinda gave me some direction on which way to go, I had fun with it and came up with this Inspiration Board for her.  Those Ikea panels will be the star of the show.  I’m trying to figure out where I could use those panels, cause they are even better in person than in pics.  The fabric has a linen-like feel and look to it.  Bu alas, I have no more rooms that need them.

Click on the board to open it up larger and to see all the items that are listed.  Isn’t this a fun room?  I’d love to live in this room.

I can’t wait to see how Malinda puts these ideas to work and brings her space together.  We have had fun in the collaboration and I’m really sorry we are running out of rooms to do. 🙂

If you’d like an Inspiration Board and consultation, just click over to my Design Consultations page for all the details.  I’d love to work with you too.

Love your choices, Rhoda. So fresh and just enough “tropical”. I really like those Ikea panels too and you’re right about how good they look in person. Fun room!

Rhoda, I just finished painting our master bedroom with SW Ivoire. I am really pleased with the results. It really warmed up the room (used to be off-white) I will anxiously await the Melinda’s master bedroom make-over!

    Great ideas Rhoda!

Well I survived the wedding this weekend for our daughter. It was truly magical. I’ve starting posting a few photos…with lots more to come in the next few days.

Still on Cloud 9…exhausted, emotional, but oh so happy!.

    Hugs!

Oh, I love SW Ivorie… I’ve used it all in my house and my living room is one shade darker, Blonde, which I love, too! They are my most favorite colors!

I love the incorporation of that aqua color. I saw that color (though maybe teal?) used in the HGTV 2010 Dream Home and have since incorporated it into our master bedroom through pillows and a plate on the wall. I didn’t realize it would work with our light green mossy walls, but it does. Plus, it helps our light green and light blue master bath flow better with the bedroom.

BTW, if you have time, I thought you might like to pop over to see one of my series of posts about our trip to Key West. I LOVED the houses there and today posted some of my favs. Unfortunately we didn’t actually get to go INTO any of them (other than Hemmingway’s former home on a tour). Next time!!

Hi Miss Rhoda, I kept getting people on my blog from Polyvore and I couldn’t figure out why. Now I know the Pillow!!! Thank you for linking to my blog for that. It was very kind of you, you sweet blogging friend. The room for Malinda looks wonderful and I am sure she is very happy. In case anyone wants t know the pillow came from TJ Maxx for $19.99. It is on my front porch with the black and white curtains, looking pretty fun!! I love it with the blue/green walls it looks wonderful, great job!! Kathysue

I love the accent blue you have selected for this bedroom design. We are about to paint our bedroom and shop for a bed, so thanks for a great inspiration.
